Common Mormon

20150802_154744Common mormon butterfly (Papilio polytes) is an allusion to polygamy practised by Mormon sect in America.  This butterfly is widely distributed across Asia.

These are swallow tail butterflies with dark body, having white spots along the middle part of the hind wing.  Unlike male, female mormon exhibits polymorphism, three different types.  The female mimics red bodied swallow tails, crimson red and common rose.
